Leadership on Campus
Designed and launched a digital publication website to expand access beyond in-person conferences and give readers new ways to engage with the magazine.
Role: UX/UI & Web Designer
Project type: Digital publication website
Timeline: November 2024 - May 2025
Outcome: Launched a new website in HubSpot where visitors can read the magazine, explore articles, subscribe to future issues, submit content, and nominate education professionals for recognition.
Responsibilities: Information architecture, content organization, visual design, stakeholder collaboration, developer handoff and implementation support.

Problem
The publication was primarily distributed at education conferences. People who could not attend had limited access to its content.
The organization needed a digital home where visitors could read the magazine, discover featured articles, contribute content, recognize education professionals, and stay connected to future issues.
-
Expand access to the digital publication
-
Increase reader engagement through articles and subscriptions
-
Encourage article submissions and award nominations
Project Goal
Creating the Website Structure
With no existing website structure to build from, I organized the publication's content into six primary sections: Home, About Us, Magazine, Articles, Awards, and Sponsors.
Because there was no existing site map, the goal was to balance reading with user engagement. I separated "Magazine" issues from standalone "Articles" so readers could access quick content without opening full issues. I also placed "Awards" and "Submissions" in the main navigation to directly drive nominations and article submissions.

Designing Around Content Constraints
Stakeholders provided the publication content and required key messaging to remain intact. I determined how that content would be grouped, prioritized, and presented across the website.

Expanding Reader Engagement
Beyond hosting the digital magazine, I designed ways for visitors to stay connected and participate. Readers could explore featured articles, subscribe to future issues, submit articles, and nominate education professionals for recognition.
I also proposed the email subscription feature to help the publication build an ongoing relationship with its readers.

"I had the pleasure of working with Page on the Campus Benefits websites. She was a great client to work with—professional, communicative, and very collaborative throughout the project. She provided clear direction and thoughtful feedback, which made the overall process smooth and productive. I truly appreciated her trust in my work and her positive approach to collaboration. It was a pleasure working with her, and I would be happy to work with her again."

Reflections
Building the publication's first website taught me how to turn stakeholder-provided content and business requirements into a clear digital structure while balancing multiple audience actions. I also learned how important early coordination with development is when designing within an existing CMS and supporting a site through launch.
If I revisited the project, I would test the navigation with potential readers and run a usability test. This was a fun project because it mixed design with editorial work.
